Dr. Kevin Sutton

Dr. Kevin Sutton is an assistant professor at Appalachian State University. He earned his M.A.Ed. in curriculum and instruction and a graduate certificate in integrative STEM education from Virginia Tech and his B.S. and Ed.D. in technology education from North Carolina State University. Dr. Sutton teaches various courses to prepare teachers and professionals in the career and technical education program. His research surrounds aviation workforce shortages and developing engaging integrative STEM education activities for teachers.

In 2023, he received two awards from the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association:

  • The Distinguished Technology & Engineering Professional, bestowed by a committee of expert peer reviewers, is one of the highest levels of achievement granted by ITEEA.
  • The Dugger Exemplary Collaboration Award is presented to an individual or team making a significant contribution to Technology and Engineering Education through collaboration.

Dr. Sutton is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the International Technology and Engineering Educator Association (ITEEA); North Carolina Technology Student Association; The 1909 Conference: Advancing Thought, Research, and Practice in Technology and Engineering Education; and Epsilon Pi Tau (EPT). 

He is on the Board of Directors for International Technology and Engineering Educators Association, North Carolina Technology Student Association, and AeroEducate, and he serves as the associate editor for the Technology and Engineering Education: Bringing STEM to Life.
