Dr. Paul Wallace

In his field, technology is more than just a collection of gadgets and software - it's a tool that helps us connect with people, ideas, and cultures from all corners of the globe. As a professor of instructional technology, Dr. Paul Wallace emphasizes the importance of a global perspective and the role that technology plays in facilitating communication and collaboration.

He is also committed to promoting international collaboration and understanding. Through online collaborative projects and other initiatives, Dr. Wallace encourages his students to consider different viewpoints and beliefs, and to learn from peers from all around the world. By embedding these international concepts into all of his courses, he hopes to create a learning environment that is truly global in scope and outlook.

As a researcher, Dr. Wallace is passionate about exploring the ways in which emerging technologies can transform society, health, and education. Specifically, he is focused on the exciting potential of social robotics, mixed reality, and new media narratives to enhance our ability to connect and learn in meaningful ways.

His current research projects are particularly focused on the role of social robots and artificial agents in learning environments, and the impact of these technologies on human emotions like affect and anxiety. By understanding how people interact and collaborate with robots in educational settings, he believes we can unlock new possibilities for learning, self-efficacy, and personal growth that were previously unimaginable. Dr. Wallace has received many accolades for his work, including Chancellor's Innovation Scholars Award (2017) for Socially Assistive Robotics in Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation, Director of the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program to Indonesia (2019), and U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Russia (2019-2020).

As a Fulbright Liaison, Dr. Wallace is happy to assist RCOE faculty and staff in exploring overseas opportunities offered by the US Fulbright Program.
